Job Description
We are seeking an enthusiastic and capable full-time Postdoctoral Research Fellow to work on a project on addressing online toxicity. The successful candidate will work with an interdisciplinary team of scholars based in Singapore to advance research and develop solutions to tackle online toxicity.
The contract is for 1 year and is renewable up to 2 years.
Job tasks
The successful candidate will assist in work towards identifying personas. Responsibilities include conducting digital ethnography, thematic content analysis, and focus groups. The successful candidate will conduct literature reviews, produce research summaries, pen research plans, recruit participants, and ensure compliance with research ethics and data privacy requirements.
This role includes some project management, including coordinating tasks, tracking and reporting process, and collaborating closely with the research team. They will also be required to support research admin and deliverables such as reports/journal articles, workshops and webinars.
Qualifications
Applicants should have at least or close to obtaining a PhD in the Social Sciences/Humanities, Computing or other relevant disciplines, and demonstrated research experience in communication and new media. The candidate should have an interest in and knowledge of online harms and online communities, and be familiar with data collection using API and social media listening tools. Familiarity with Singapore’s socio-cultural landscape is an advantage. Applicants would ideally have experience in quantitative and qualitative research relevant to this multidisciplinary project. Those from social sciences, communications, computer science, or related fields are encouraged to apply.
