Job Description

The Research Fellow (RF) will lead, organise, and execute research projects within the TTE Lab, focusing on patient-derived tumour explants. The role involves driving the development of biomaterials-based solutions to extend the longevity of patient-derived tumour explants and using micro-beads for the reconstruction of tumour co-cultures in vitro.

The RF will work closely with the Principal Investigator (PI) and study team members to ensure the successful and timely completion of research objectives aligned with the overall goals of the TTE Lab.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage students and research staff working on tumour explant projects.
  • Design and execute research protocols involving patient-derived tumour explants.
  • Develop and implement biomaterials-based strategies to enhance explant viability and longevity.
  • Conduct studies involving micro-beads for reconstructing tumour co-cultures in vitro.
  • Analyse, interpret, and present research data in a clear and timely manner.
  • Prepare manuscripts, reports, and presentations for publication and dissemination.
  • Oversee project timelines and ensure deliverables are met.
  • Mentor junior researchers and contribute to a collaborative and productive lab environment.
  • Contribute to grant writing, proposal development, and progress reporting as required.

Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in Bioengineering, Biomedical Engineering, Cancer Biology, or a related discipline.
  • Strong research background in biomaterials, tumour biology, or tissue engineering.
  • Demonstrated experience in experimental design, data analysis, and scientific writing.
  • Proven ability to lead and mentor a research team.
  • Excellent organisational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team.
