Job Description
NUS Environmental Research Institute (NERI) invites applications for one (1) Research Fellow position in the area of pavement geotechnics with focus on pavement base design, modeling and experimentation (both lab and field). The candidate is expected to work in research projects related to the topic funded by the National Research Foundation of Singapore and Housing Development Board and other relevant agencies. The candidate will be working with Associate Professor Ong Ghim Ping Raymond from the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, College of Design and Engineering (CDE), and NERI (https://cde.nus.edu.sg/cee/staff/ong-ghim-ping-raymond/) in fundamental and translational research in the development of new interlocking paver pavement systems.
The selected individual is required to:

Perform laboratory and field experiments on pavement base and subbase within an interlocking paver pavement system

Numerical modelling of pavement base and subbase for interlocking paver pavement system with field validation

Develop state of the art solutions for interlocking paver pavement system and work closely with contractors and agencies to ensure solution is commercially viable

Manage research project progress, construction field trials, grant administration, and finance

Work on other relevant tasks set out by the project PI
The appointment will be for one year in the first instance (negotiable prior to employment) and renewable for another year subject to availability of funding.
Qualifications
- PhD in civil engineering or a related area
- Relevant experience in both experimental and numerical pavement geotechnics would be favourably considered
- Fresh PhD graduates are welcome to apply
