Job Description
The Research Fellow will be a member of the IPUR research team, working under the Lead Scientist (Environment & Climate) to help deliver IPUR’s research programme on risk perceptions and communications. Specifically, the RF will work on the evaluation of risk communication and resilience interventions. Evaluations will be conducted in experimental and real-world settings employing qualitative and quantitative (survey-based) approaches. Interventions will include creative and participatory approaches as well as mainstream approaches aiming to equip individuals to take informed decisions under conditions of uncertainty. Applications will be cross-sectoral, encompassing health, occupational safety, environmental and natural hazard risks. Responsibilities will include literature review, experimental design, qualitative and quantitative data collection and analysis, preparation of policy and scholarly publications and conference presentations, project coordination, liaison with grantors and other stakeholders in addition to providing support for IPUR’s work generally.
Candidates should have a PhD in public health, economics, public administration/political science, social work, sociology or other relevant discipline. Candidates should have knowledge and experience in conducting impact evaluation employing either qualitative or quantitative methods and an interest in and awareness of social and environmental issues. Experience in systematic literature reviews is an advantage. All candidates should have a strong willingness to learn about new topics and methods. Excellent written and spoken English is essential.
Responsibilities of the full-time research fellow include:
- Literature review
- Collect and manage primary data for research projects
- Design experiments
- Perform qualitative and quantitative data analysis
- Write scholarly articles, research briefings and summaries
- Preparation of grant and institute reporting requirements for stakeholders
- Provide general support for IPUR activities
This is a 12-month, onsite position in Singapore with possibility for 12-month extension. Start date: ASAP
Requirements
