Job Description

As a Scientific Officer, you will play a pivotal role in managing and supporting a dynamic portfolio of research projects and academic programs. This multifaceted role encompasses research grant administration, project management, financial oversight, HR coordination, and programmatic outreach. You will also provide key support to graduate education initiatives. The ideal candidate is proactive, detail-oriented, and capable of working independently while collaborating effectively with diverse stakeholders in a research-intensive environment.

 

Key Responsibilitie

1. Research Grant Administration and Management

  • Support pre- and post-award grant processes, including documentation for IRB/DSRB, IACUC, and budget justifications.
  • Promote funding strategies and identify relevant grant opportunities
  • Assist in proposal and budget preparation.
  • Track research expenditures and ensure financial compliance with grant conditions.
  • Maintain organized records of award letters, reports, and correspondence.
  • Oversee procurement and claims; ensure invoicing aligns with project scopes
  • Coordinate with Finance and HR on manpower planning, budget tracking, and staff onboarding

2. Research Program and Project Management

  • Work closely with Principal Investigators to conceptualize, develop, and monitor research themes and deliverables.
  • Organize and facilitate research team meetings; prepare minutes and progress documentation. 
  • Monitor and ensure timely delivery of project milestones and reporting.
  • Support the alignment of research activities with institutional and funding agency policies.
  • Draft project reports and prepare presentations for internal and external stakeholders

3. Programmatic Outreach

  • Engage internal and external stakeholders to promote collaboration and awareness of research initiatives.
  • Coordinate program memberships and bibliometric reporting.
  • Organize and manage logistics for research-related events (workshops, symposia, seminars).
  • Manage communication and publicity efforts, including research news dissemination and media outreach

4. Research Graduate Programme Support

  • Liaise between research teams and graduate schools to ensure program alignment and compliance. 
  • Provide administrative support for graduate and fellowship programs, including onboarding, progress tracking, and coordination of academic activities.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Life Sciences, Biomedical Sciences, or a related field.
  • At least 2–3 years of experience in research administration, academic program coordination, or related roles.
  • Familiarity with institutional systems such as SAP and iRIMS preferred.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills with an ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Excellent communication (written and verbal), reporting, and presentation skills.
  • Self-motivated and able to work both independently and in team-based environments.
  • High attention to detail and demonstrated ability to manage complex documentation.
