About the Centre for Quantum Technologies (CQT)
The Centre for Quantum Technologies (CQT) in Singapore brings together physicists, computer scientists and engineers to do basic research on quantum physics and to build devices based on quantum phenomena. Experts in this new discipline of quantum technologies are applying their discoveries in computing, communications, and sensing.
CQT is hosted by the National University of Singapore. The Centre also has staff at the Agency for Science, Technology and Research, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore, and the Singapore University of Technology and Design. With some 200 staff and students, it offers a friendly and international work environment

Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled System Administrator (Senior Research Fellow) to oversee and optimize our High-Performance Computing (HPC) and distributed AI infrastructure. In this role, you will lead the architectural design and implementation of cloud-native integration layers that connect quantum frameworks with top-tier supercomputing environments. You will leverage modern software engineering practices, including Git and CI/CD, to deliver reliable, high-performance systems while helping to define technical direction across the team. This role requires a hands-on technical leader capable of mentoring engineers and ensuring the seamless operation of heterogeneous HPC backends.
Key Responsibilities
• Infrastructure Design: Design and implement infrastructure tailored to each project, taking into account performance, scalability, and cost requirements.
• HPC Management: Design, develop, and optimize resource management tools and Slurm GPU plugins for supercomputing clusters.
• Deployment & Automation: Oversee infrastructure deployment and ensure continuous integration and delivery by automating CI/CD pipelines to eliminate deployment bottlenecks.
• System Integration: Spearhead the deployment of middleware layers and cloud-native APIs that bridge Pythonic quantum abstractions with distributed supercomputing environments.
• Technical Leadership: Guide the team in adopting software engineering best practices, quality standards, and system architecture.
• Mentorship: Mentor junior engineers and domain scientists while actively collaborating with developer and user communities.
• Project & Code Management: Oversee the use of GitHub for version control and code collaboration, and maintain high-quality technical documentation.
• Data & Database Operations: Oversee database systems and manage infrastructure that supports data processing and modeling.
Qualifications
• Education: Master's degree or PhD (or equivalent relevant experience) in Computer Science, Engineering, Physics, Geophysics, Applied Mathematics, or a related field.
• Experience: A multidisciplinary track record in HPC, distributed infrastructure, or hybrid quantum-classical software stacks.
• Core Languages: Proficiency in Python, C++, and Shell scripting.
• HPC & Containerization: Solid understanding of HPC environments, MPI, CUDA, Slurm workload management, and containerization tools like Apptainer.
• Cloud Infrastructure: Proven experience with cloud services (AWS, Azure, GCP) and RESTful microservices.
• DevOps Practices: Proficiency with version control (Git) and extensive experience deploying and automating CI/CD pipelines.
• Soft Skills: Excellent problem-solving skills, debugging capabilities, and the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
