Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Researcher in Economics for Maritime Industry Scenarios to join our team and contribute to the field of maritime economics. This position involves an in-depth exploration of disruption scenarios involving the interplay between current global issues and the maritime industry, with a systems thinking approach. The successful candidate will leverage their expertise in economics, computing, and generative machine learning to construct scenarios semi-automatically.
- Conduct rigorous research into the impact of global events on the maritime industry.
- Apply systems thinking methodologies to analyse complex interactions and dependencies.
- Analyse data and develop scenarios/simulations.
- Develop and implement generative machine learning models to generate plausible scenarios.
- Econometric modelling on manpower.
- Model trade and shipping patterns.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of economists, engineers, and maritime experts.
- Publish findings in reputable journals and present at conferences.
- Develop research multi disciplinary research proposals for industry or grant calls.
The postdoctoral fellow shall lead the redaction of multidisciplinary project proposal(s).
Qualifications
• PhD in relevant discipline e.g. Economics, Engineering, Business or related field, with relevant experience, knowledge, or strong interest in maritime and economics
• Experience or strong interest in computing, including programming (Python, R) and generative machine learning techniques.
• Strong analytical skills and a systemic perspective on problem-solving.
• Excellent communication abilities for academic writing and presenting.
