Specialist Associate (Research Computing Resource Technician)

Job Description

The Institute for Functional Intelligent Materials (I-FIM) is recruiting a research computing resource technician to provide essential day-to-day computing resource support within the institute, reporting directly to the IT Manager. This position encompasses a range of responsibiltiies aimed at ensuiring the smooth operations of basic research computing resources and services, crucial for supporting the institute's expanding team and growing demands.

The job scope will cover:

• Provide comprehensive IT support and troubleshoot hardware and software issues
• Offer AV support for seminars and events, including hybrid setups for research-related seminars and meetings
• Liaise with vendors for warranty, services, and maintainence
• Act as the first line of contact for IT support requests
• Collaborate with the procurement team to acquire assets and peripherals
• Configure, set up, and allocate IT resources for users and equipment use, including servers and hardware
• Maintain accurate asset records and perform routine IT housekeeping
• Work closely with NUS IT to address IT needs of the institute
• Administer accounts, such as providing or requesting guest Wi-Fi, library access, visitor accounts, mailbox creation, and updating group mailing lists

Requirements

• ITE Higher Nitec or Polytechnic Diploma
• At least two years of experience in IT support
• Strong troubleshooting skills for hardware and software issues
• Experience in multimedia support, including photography and AV connections
• Excellent customer service and communication skills
• Proficiency in English
