Job Description

The Institute for Functional Intelligent Materials (I-FIM) is the world’s first institute dedicated to the design, synthesis, and application of Functional Intelligent Materials (FIMs). Its global vision is to create a platform to develop FIMs with predetermined properties and autonomous, dynamic functionalities which can respond to changing environmental conditions. I-FIM will then investigate the use of such materials for smart applications in various sectors of technology. Our outstanding researchers and excellent facilities create an energetic environment for ground-breaking science and world-class training. We are hosted by the National University of Singapore, a globally leading research university, empowering multidisciplinary research that spans cutting-edge approaches from the biological, computational, physiochemical and engineering sciences.

The Visiting Research Fellow will contribute to research in 2D materials and their application in optoelectronic devices.

Job Responsibilities

  • Conduct collaborative research on 2D vdW structures and related 2D materials
  • Investigate synthesis routes to produce high-quality vdW structures and 2D films
  • Fabricate and characterize 2D material systems and integrate them into next-generation optoelectronic devices
  • Co-author and contribute to peer-reviewed publications in leading journals in the field
  • Participate actively in I-FIM's research activities, group meetings, and seminars
  • Adhere to NUS research ethics guidelines, laboratory safety protocols, and institutional policies

Job Requirements

  • A doctoral degree (PhD) in Materials Science and Engineering or a closely related discipline
  • Hands-on experience with characterization and fabrication tools relevant to 2D materials research
  • A track record of peer-reviewed publications and international conference presentations
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a high-performance multidisciplinary research environment
