Job Description
The NUS Global Asia Institute (GAI) is looking for a Web Designer (UI/UX) to lead the design and user experience of digital platforms across various research, education and outreach projects.
The successful candidate will collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams comprising world-class researchers, project managers, and stakeholders to design engaging, user-centred digital experiences. We are looking for a creative problem-solver with a strong eye for aesthetics, usability, and interaction design who thrives in an autonomous and collaborative environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Design intuitive, visually engaging, and responsive website interfaces that deliver an exceptional user experience.
- Develop user flows, wireframes, mock-ups, interactive prototypes, and high-fidelity UI designs.
- Translate business and user requirements into user-centric digital experiences through UX research and design thinking methodologies.
- Create and maintain design systems, UI components, and style guides to ensure consistency across digital platforms.
- Produce digital assets, illustrations, icons, banners, and graphics for websites, landing pages, and digital campaigns.
- Collaborate closely with developers to ensure design feasibility and accurate implementation.
- Conduct usability testing and continuously improve website performance based on user feedback and analytics.
- Ensure websites are accessible, responsive, and aligned with current UI/UX best practices.
- Support branding initiatives by ensuring visual consistency across all digital touchpoints.

Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in UI/UX Design, Graphic Design, Visual Communication, Human-Computer Interaction, or a related discipline.
- Minimum 1-2 years of experience in UI/UX or web design.
- Strong portfolio demonstrating expertise in responsive web design, user interface design, and user experience principles.
- Proficiency in Figma, Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, XD), or equivalent design tools.
- Experience designing responsive websites for desktop and mobile platforms.
- Strong understanding of information architecture, typography, colour theory, layout, and accessibility standards.
- Familiarity with HTML, CSS, and front-end development principles is advantageous but not required.
- Experience collaborating with developers using design handoff tools and workflows.
- Excellent visual communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills.
- Strong attention to detail, excellent time management, and the ability to work independently while managing multiple projects.
- Excellent written and spoken English.
