Job Description
We are seeking an experienced, full-time communications professional to strengthen the corporate communications function at the NUS Saw Swee Hock School of Public Health (SSHSPH). The role will drive strategic communications, media relations, and social media engagement to enhance the School’s reputation, visibility and engagement with stakeholders across the region.
Duties & Responsibilities
Strategic Communications
• Develop and implement integrated B2B and B2C communications strategies to strengthen the School’s reputation, engage key audiences and advance its strategic priorities.
• Work closely with internal stakeholders to shape key messages and develop compelling, audience-focused content, including thought leadership pieces, for traditional and digital channels.
Media Relations
• Develop media materials, including press releases and pitches, to strengthen the School’s visibility and position it as a thought leader in public health.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for media enquiries, coordinate interviews and work with faculty and relevant stakeholders to provide timely, accurate responses to journalists.
• Monitor media coverage via Truescope and prepare media coverage reports for management, highlighting key coverage, sentiment and communications impact to inform strategic planning.
Social Media Management
• Develop and maintain editorial calendars across social media platforms, ensuring timely publication and a consistent brand voice.
• Create compelling copy and visual assets that showcase the School’s research, education and partnerships, and encourage meaningful audience engagement.
Content Management
• Manage the development and production of key publications and assets, including the Annual Report, corporate brochures and corporate video, ensuring accuracy and alignment with the School’s messaging and brand identity.
• Manage publication budgets and coordinate with internal stakeholders, designers, printers and external vendors to ensure high-quality production and timely distribution.
Qualifications
• A recognised Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, or a related discipline.
• A minimum of five years of relevant experience in corporate communications, strategic communications or public relations, with demonstrated experience developing and implementing integrated communications strategies.
• Excellent writing, editing and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate complex research and public health topics into clear, compelling content for diverse audiences.
• Experience in media relations, including developing press releases and pitches, coordinating interviews, monitoring coverage and preparing reports for management.
• Strong stakeholder management skills, with the confidence to advise and collaborate with faculty, senior management and external partners on communications matters.
• Proficiency in social media strategy, content creation and analytics. Experience with Canva and media monitoring tools would be an advantage.
• Sound editorial judgement, attention to detail and the ability to manage sensitive information with discretion.
• A proactive approach and the ability to work independently, exercise sound judgement and take ownership of communications initiatives.
