Job Description

The National University of Singapore – which is the top ranked university in Asia – is recruiting full-time Assistant Professor(s) for the Saw Swee Hock School of Public Health (SSHSPH) on the tenure track. For the tenure track, appointees are given fixed contracts for up to 7 years, with the goal of obtaining tenure at the end of this period. In addition to an attractive salary and benefits package, new faculty members may be eligible for a start-up grant to initiate their independent stream of research and subsidised university accommodation.

 

The School is seeking to hire one or more biostatisticians, ideally those working on public health applications. The positions are specifically for faculty to work in the Biostatistics and Modelling Domain (BSMD) of SSHSPH. Researchers with existing research activities applying statistical methods in cancer, epidemiological studies, health promotion, physical activity, nutrition and primary care are particularly encouraged to apply.

Qualifications

Requirements:

  1. A recognized Doctoral degree in a relevant discipline with a strong post-doctoral research record;
  2. Track record of publishing in international peer-reviewed journals;
  3. Ability to generate and maintain an independent stream of funding;
  4. Ability to teach public health courses at both undergraduate and graduate levels;
  5. Ability to work in multidisciplinary teams;
  6. Ability to work with culturally diverse populations.

 

Additional requirements to be appointed to the tenure track:

 

  1. Track record of publishing in high-impact international peer-reviewed journals;
  2. Experience in leading independent research studies;
  3. Ability to develop an internationally renowned research programme.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities include:

  • establishing an independent research programme;
  • providing statistical support for collaborative, multidisciplinary research;
  • course design and teaching; and
  • graduate student advising.
