Job Description

The Singapore Population Health Studies (SPHS) is a population-based health research initiative at the Saw Swee Hock School of Public Health, National University of Singapore. SPHS aims to investigate the interactions between lifestyle, physiological, genetic and other omics biomarkers and their impact on health and longevity. In addition, SPHS will serve as a platform to monitor risk factors in the population and gain insight into determinants of health-related behaviours. For this purpose, SPHS includes over 50,000 adult Singaporeans and long-term residents from three major ethnic groups (Chinese, Malay, and Indian), for a better understanding of disease aetiology in urban Asian settings, and the development of improved preventive and therapeutic measures for Singapore and other Asian populations.

JOB PURPOSE
This role primarily involves the recruitment and data collection activities of the public health research projects under the SPHS unit that will contribute towards the building of a population health biobank for Singapore.

Duties & Responsibilities
1. Inviting target participants as defined above to take part in the relevant study by phone call or messaging;
2. Screening their eligibility for the study and making an appointment with them for the study procedures;
3. Provide logistical information for the interview and study site visit;
4. Manage participant flow at the study site visit and verify the participants' survey completion status;
5. Explaining the information in the study consent documents to the extent that the consent, if given, would be informed and voluntary;
6. Obtaining participants’ consent before beginning any study procedures;
7. Interview participants according to the e-questionnaire and entering the responses accurately to the e-questionnaire via a tablet;
8. Timely completion of interview and registration of participants for their study site visit procedures before the cut-off time;
9. Timely preparation of required material and equipment for the study site visits;
10. Organise work outputs to be handed over to the QC supervisor; and
11. Any other responsibilities as required by future research projects.

Qualifications

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

  • Post-secondary qualifications with a good command of spoken English and Malay/Tamil/Mandarin/Cantonese/Hokkien/Teochew (to conduct interview with health research participants in local ethnic languages)
  • At least 2 years of customer-facing work experience.
  • Work hours are: 7.30am to 5.15pm on Mon, Tue, Thu and Fri; 7.30am to 12.30pm on either Sat or Wed depending on operation days of the study site.
  • Comfortable with using a tablet for data entry, retrieve and update records.
