Postdoctoral Fellow (Health Economics and Equity)
The Health Intervention and Policy Evaluation Research Centre (HIPER) (https://hiper.nus.edu.sg/) at the Saw Swee Hock School of Public Health (SSHSPH), NUS, is seeking to hire a postdoctoral fellow to conduct research on health economics and equity under the supervision and mentorship of Professor Richard Cookson (https://sph.nus.edu.sg/faculty-directory/cookson-richard/).
The Postdoctoral Fellow will play a critical role in the development of the Centre’s research to support health policy and services research in Singapore and the region, gaining the opportunity to work with leading experts and policy makers in the field. As well as conducting and disseminating research on health economics and equity through journal publications, the successful candidate will be expected to submit research grant proposals, perform research administration, mentor junior research staff, and be involved in capacity building through conducting workshops for local and regional participants and supporting relevant training activities (e.g. short courses, co-supervision of masters dissertation students). They will also have various other opportunities to develop their skills and career trajectory.
Requirements:
• Postgraduate degree in Health Economics or a related quantitative field such as Biostatistics, Epidemiology, Health Technology Assessment, Pharmacy, or Public Health.
• Demonstrable motivation to do high-quality research on health economics and equity and produce useful evidence that helps decision makers improve health and wellbeing
• Strong quantitative skills in data analysis using R, Stata, Python or similar software and ability to summarise results using clear, concise and relevant tables and graphs
• Familiarity with basic concepts of economic evaluation and causal inference
• Strong communication skills, in both presentations and written work
• Independent critical thinking skills
We also prefer an applicant with expertise and experience in one or more specialist quantitative research methods that can be applied to do useful research on health economics and equity, such as decision modelling for health economic evaluation, longitudinal data analysis, use of linked electronic health records, preference elicitation studies, microsimulation, or some other useful method.
