Job Description

The Saw Swee Hock School of Public Health, National University of Singapore (NUS), invites applications for a full-time Research Assistant/Associate position to join the NUS Cambodia Program to support research projects and capacity-building efforts in global health.

The NUS Cambodia Programme started in 2014 and has been working closely with stakeholders across the research and policy ecosystem in Cambodia and in the region to conduct research that informs policy, build capacity through training and education, and foster regional dialogue on public health.

The Programme’s current research projects include maternal and child health, infection prevention and control, antimicrobial resistance and stewardship, infectious diseases (such as HIV/AIDS and tuberculosis), sexual and reproductive health and rights, non-communicable diseases, mental health, and health financing.

Candidates will have the opportunity to engage with local and regional stakeholders to apply research to drive meaningful impact. They will also gain valuable exposure to global health and work with an interdisciplinary team to contribute to improving the health and well-being of populations in the region.

Key Responsibilities
Research & Analysis
• Work closely with the Principal Investigator (PI) on research design, ethics approval, project implementation, and monitoring.
• Where necessary, support the team in literature review, study design, data collection and analysis, and grant applications.
• Conduct qualitative/quantitative data collection and analysis using robust research methods.

Project Management & Stakeholder Engagement
• Work with team members to harness expertise across the team and more broadly with colleagues in NUS to conduct, facilitate and support collaborative research projects.
• Engage with local and regional partners and stakeholders, including policymakers, funders, and community organisations, to ensure research relevance and impact.
• Coordinate engagements with stakeholders by organising meetings, liaising with partners and stakeholders through formal and informal channels, and supporting engagement efforts.

Knowledge Management & Dissemination
• Lead or contribute to the writing of academic publications.
• Synthesise findings into reports, policy briefs, and presentation slides for broader communications.
• Contribute to knowledge-sharing activities, including conference presentations, dissemination workshops, and sharing with stakeholders.

• This is a full-time position based at NUS.

Qualifications

Requirements

• Degree in Public Health, Health Policy, Health Systems, Health Promotion, Social Sciences, Social Work, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
• At least 1 year of research experience, preferably in global health, public health, community interventions, or nonprofit management.
• Expertise in qualitative and/or quantitative research, with demonstrable hands-on experience. For qualitative research, hands-on experience includes conducting interviews, focus groups, or participatory research and analysing qualitative data using suitable software. For quantitative research, hands-on experience includes conducting or designing data collection, developing statistical plans, conducting program evaluation, and analyzing data using software such as R or Stata.
• Strong analytical and writing skills, with the ability to report research findings for academic publications and broader communications.
• Ability to collaborate effectively within an interdisciplinary team and engage with stakeholders, funders, policymakers, and community partners in a respectful and inclusive manner.
• Have experience participating in health projects in a low- and middle-income country setting or at the regional level involving several countries is an advantage.
