Job Purpose:
- To manage and oversee the University support for national athletes in NUS.
- To oversee, mentor and guide various NUS Sports Groups in the promotion of sports within the NUS community and the pursuit of excellence representing the University.
- To develop sports leaders by guiding and mentoring them as well as ensuring compliance to University guidelines.
- To represent NUS at Singapore University Sports Council and the various National Sports Associations by forging beneficial relationships.
Duties & Responsibilities :
- Manage the development and administration of 8 to 10 NUS Sports Groups including Football, Badminton, Rowing, Handball and Pencak Silat. This includes mentoring and guiding student leaders in their programmes as well as collaborating with external organisations such as the National Sports Associations in delivering a safe, conducive and vibrant sporting culture. As the convenor of the sports, this also includes organizing of competitions within the Singapore University Games and Institute-Varsity-Polytechnic Games.
- Manage and administer support for national and high performance athletes which includes but not limited to:
- Selection, management and development of NUS Sports Scholarships.
- Monitoring of selection high performance carded athletes.
- Administering Unversity grants for community sports and sports excellence programmes.
- Engaging with faculty members for athlete-friendly academic accommidation.
- Monitoring the support for alumni national athletes.
- Funding and support for all national athletes.
- Social media and news feature for tertiary competitions and major Games.
- Engaging with external stakeholders such as High Performance Sports Institution (HPSI) and Singapore Sports School for Athlete support, including pre-uni admissions talks and engagements.
- Network with other counterparts from Singapore University Sports Council to exchange ideas and share best practices for the benefit of NUS athletes.
- Oversee, mentor and guide students in organising large scale community sports events such as RunNUS, SunNUS and Inter-Faculty Games.
- Perform all other duties assigned.
Qualifications
- Degree holder preferably in the area of Sports Management or Sports Science, with at least 7 years of working experience in relevant industry. Experience and familiarity with Singapore high performance sports ecosystem will be an advantage.
- Organised with strong administrative skills.
- Excellent social skills.
- Strong interest in sports.
- Passion and aptitude for student development and sports excellence.
