Job Description
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Assistant Senior Manager, Grant Claims & Financial Planning Analyst to support the university’s grant claim processes and contribute to financial planning and analysis (FP&A) initiatives. This role is ideal for candidates with a strong foundation in audit, financial compliance, and data analytics, who are eager to drive process improvements and support strategic financial decision-making.
Key Responsibilities:
Grant Claims Management
- Grant Claim Support: Assist in the preparation, review, and timely submission of grant claims, ensuring accuracy and compliance with university policies and funding agency requirements.
- Audit & Compliance: Apply audit knowledge to review financial records, identify discrepancies, and ensure adherence to regulatory and audit standards.
- Stakeholder Coordination: Collaborate with internal departments and external funding agencies to resolve grant-related issues and ensure smooth communication.
- Documentation & Reporting: Maintain organized records of grant documentation and support the preparation of internal and external reports.
- Process Enhancement: Contribute to the continuous improvement of grant claim workflows, including identifying opportunities for automation and efficiency.
Process Automation & Operational Efficiency:
- Automation Support: Assist in implementing automation tools (e.g., RPA, workflow platforms) to streamline financial reporting and operational processes.
- System Integration: Support efforts to integrate financial systems and databases for improved data consistency and reporting accuracy
Data Analytics & Reporting:
- Power BI Reporting: Develop and maintain dashboards and reports using Power BI to monitor grant claims and financial performance.
- Data Visualization & Insights: Present financial data in clear, visual formats to support decision-making across departments.
Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A):
- Financial Modelling: Support financial forecasting and scenario planning by analyzing historical data and building financial models.
- Cost Reporting: Assist in cost allocation and prepare reports on departmental productivity and financial performance.
- Variance Analysis: Conduct variance analysis and provide insights to improve financial outcomes.
- Benchmarking: Research industry best practices and contribute to benchmarking exercises to identify areas for improvement.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
- 10+ years of experience in audit, accounting, or grant management roles, with a strong understanding of audit processes and compliance requirements.
- Experience with process automation tools to improve operational efficiency.
- Experience with Power BI or similar tools for reporting and data visualization.
- Strong knowledge of cost management principles, cost allocation, and productivity measurement techniques.
- Highly detail-oriented with excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to interact effectively with internal teams and external stakeholders.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, etc).
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
