Job Description

The Candidate will manage the delivery and operational support SAP S4/HANA and related enterprise systems supporting Finance functions. He/She will partner closely with business users, vendors, and IT stakeholders to understand requirements, design solutions, and drive implementation, maintenance, and continuous improvement across SAP S/4HANA functional domains (e.g., Finance, Projects, Treasury, Sales & Distribution, etc.) and integrated applications.

Duties and Responsibilities

Stakeholder Engagement and User Management

  • Partner Finance users and business analysts to gather, validate, and prioritise requirements, enhancements, and issues.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to stakeholders by providing clear updates on releases, milestones, incidents, and service changes.
  • Manage expectations, maintain user satisfaction, and ensure outcomes align to Finance operational needs and governance standards.

 

Functional and Technical Solution Design

  • Lead functional solution design and process optimisation across assigned SAP S/4HANA domains such as FI/CO, Project System, Funds/Grants, Treasury, Sales & Distribution, and related integrations.
  • Translate business requirements into functional specifications, including process impacts, controls, data implications, and reporting needs.
  • Ensure designs address:
    1. master data and organisational structures
    2. core transactions and process controls
    3. approvals/workflows and segregation of duties
    4. reporting, reconciliation, and auditability
    5. integration touchpoints and data flows (internal/external)
  • Collaborate with technical teams (e.g., ABAP, integration, security, infrastructure) to deliver fit-for-purpose and supportable solutions.
  • Ensure solutions comply with NUS enterprise architecture, security, data governance, and audit requirements.


Project Management

  • Lead end-to-end delivery for enhancements and projects: scope, schedule, budget, quality, and risks.
  • Oversee key activities including fit-gap, design, build oversight, testing (SIT/UAT/regression), cutover, deployment, and hypercare.
  • Produce and maintain project artefacts and documentation in line with NUS standards.
  • Manage vendors to deliver according to contracts, SLAs, and quality expectations; coordinate internal/external resources to meet delivery outcomes.


Application Maintenance and Support

  • Ensure reliable application operations and support, meeting agreed SLAs (with/without an Application Management Support team).
  • Perform impact analysis and propose solutions for defects/enhancements, including system and data analysis and integration requirements.
  • Plan and execute patches/upgrades and regression testing following QA methodologies.
  • Maintain strong audit readiness through documentation, access/security compliance, and timely responses to audit queries.
  • Develop user training materials and conduct training/knowledge transfer where required.
  • Contribute to annual planning: enhancement roadmap, prioritisation, and continuous improvement opportunities.


Automation and AI Enablement

  • Identify and drive opportunities to improve Finance processes using automation, workflow, analytics, and AI-enabled capabilities, where appropriate.
  • Partner stakeholders to pilot and implement improvements that enhance efficiency, accuracy, controls, and user experience. 

Qualifications

  • Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field.
  • 6-8 years of relevant IT experience, including 4-6 years in SAP S/4HANA Finance delivery or support.
  • Domain knowledge in finance and reporting processes.
  • Strong functional expertise in multiple SAP S/4HANA areas such as FI/CO, Project System, Funds/Grants, Treasury, Sales & Distribution, with good understanding of cross-module integration and end-to-end Finance processes.
  • Solid understanding of Finance controls, auditability, and compliance (e.g., documentation, approvals, reconciliations, access considerations).
  • Proven ability to work with technical teams on interfaces/integrations, data flows, and complex requirements.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and communication skills; confident engaging business users, vendors and IT stakeholders.
  • Self-driven and adaptable; able to work independently while collaborating effectively in teams.
  • Exposure to or strong interest in automation/AI applied to Finance processes is an advantage.
  • SAP certification preferred; Agile/project certifications (e.g., Scrum, PMP, CITPM) are an added advantage.
  • Experience in Higher Education is a bonus.
