Job Description
The Data Products Team in NUS IT serves as the key liaison between business and technical teams. The team oversees, drives, and manages the development of data products such as the Data Lakehouse, Operational Data Store, MDM Hub, Data Catalog, Data Marketplace, and other foundational technologies, with additional data products planned for the future.
As a Senior Data Products Analyst, you will be responsible for leading data requirements workshops, drafting data requirement specifications, developing data taxonomy and catalog artifacts, validating the quality of data products, and taking on project management responsibilities when needed. You will also play a critical role in establishing partnerships with data stewardship teams, understanding data landscapes, and guiding stakeholders to access and utilize the right data to achieve their business objectives.
Duties and Responsibilities
Data Requirements
• Lead and facilitate workshops to gather and translate business data needs into clear, well-defined data requirement specifications
• Ensure captured data requirements are properly documented and aligned with data architecture and technical solutions
• Assess data source availability and quality, identifying gaps, risks, and dependencies with technical teams
Data Taxonomy and Catalog
• Develop and maintain the university’s data taxonomy in collaboration with business and IT teams
• Ensure the accuracy and completeness of the data catalog by working with data stewards and subject matter experts
• Promote catalog adoption and keep data catalog up to date by aligning it with changes in governance standards and data sources
Data Validation
• Design and execute validation plans to ensure accuracy, completeness, and consistency of data products
• Perform data quality checks, document results, and coordinate issue resolution with relevant teams
• Continuously improve QA processes and support enforcement of data quality standards
Project Management
• Manage data products and governance initiatives, ensuring timely delivery and quality outcomes
• Coordinate cross-functional teams and facilitate regular communication with stakeholders
• Align business goals with technical solutions, managing project risks and scope changes effectively
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in IT, Analytics, or a related field, with 5+ years of experience in data analysis, governance, or product management
• Hands-on experience leading data workshops and writing clear data requirements
• Strong knowledge of data governance, taxonomy, metadata, and lineage
• Hands-on experience collaborating with business to build data taxonomy and catalog
• Skilled in data validation, including testing and fixing data issues
• Familiarity with data catalog tools (preferably Microsoft Purview or IDMC CDGC) and data platform technologies (preferably Microsoft Fabric)
• Knowledge of data lakehouse methodologies and best practices
• Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving, and communication skills, able to clearly articulate complex requirements and issues to stakeholders at all levels
• Self-starter and proactive team player, highly organized, meticulous, and able to work independently with minimal supervision while maintaining a positive attitude
