Job Summary
The Associate Director is a senior strategic leader responsible for defining and executing the Investment Office’s technology vision, focusing on data-driven innovation, AI-powered automation, and enterprise application modernization. This role spearheads the end-to-end delivery of complex technology projects that enhance data architecture, integrate AI solutions, and optimize investment systems to support high-impact decision-making.
As the principal technology adviser and business partner, the incumbent drives alignment with university-wide digital transformation initiatives, cloud and on-premises infrastructure strategies, cyber security mandates, and data governance frameworks. The role entails close collaboration with NUS enterprise architects, IT leadership, and cross-functional stakeholders to ensure cohesive technology roadmaps, robust system architecture, and sustainable operational excellence.
Through strategic oversight of system administration and technology delivery, the Technology Delivery Lead empowers the Investment Office with scalable, secure, and intelligent solutions that advance organizational performance and compliance.
Duties and Responsibilities
• Utilize productivity and business intelligence tools (e.g., Microsoft Power Platform, or equivalents) to design and deliver executive dashboards and reports, enabling the CIO to make data-driven decisions and monitor performance effectively.
• Lead the end-to-end technical delivery of projects focused on automating and modernizing enterprise applications, integrating AI technologies to improve operational efficiency and decision-making. Ensure all solutions comply with NUS enterprise architecture standards, cybersecurity policies, cloud infrastructure strategies, and data governance frameworks. Collaborate with data architects, engineers, business analysts, and stakeholders to translate business needs into actionable technical solutions and detailed implementation plans.
• Oversee the migration and integration of structured and unstructured data from various functional domains—including Research, Manager Management, Investment and Operational Due Diligence, Investment Approvals, Compliance, Exposure, Risk, and Performance Reporting—into a centralized enterprise data management platform.
• Manage the upgrade, deployment, and maintenance of all hardware assets—including on-premises virtual machines, laptops, desktops, mobile devices, printers, and wireless meeting room systems—ensuring they are optimally configured and fully operational.
• Monitor project schedules, proactively manage risks, and deliver timely, clear progress updates to senior leadership and stakeholders. Facilitate cross-functional collaboration to drive milestone achievement and efficiently resolve technical challenges.
• Serve as system administrator for the Investment Office’s core platforms, providing technical support, troubleshooting, and ensuring system stability and reliability. Manage and enhance these platforms by overseeing software updates, bug fixes, and continuous improvements while prioritizing enhancement requests and transparently communicating progress to stakeholders.
• Act as a strategic IT partner to the Investment Office by supporting NUS campus-wide technology rollouts that may impact investment systems, data processes, or operational workflows. Assess initiatives for relevance, ensure alignment with institutional priorities, and facilitate smooth integration to maintain system integrity, compliance, and business continuity.
• Contribute to the Digital Enablement initiative by organizing events, delivering training sessions, and creating media content aimed at enhancing the digital dexterity of NUS staff.
Qualifications
Education & Certification
• Bachelor’s degree in information technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field; master’s degree is a plus.
• Professional certification in Project management or Agile methodologies preferred.
• Certifications in Cloud platforms, enterprise data platforms, automation and AI/ML technologies, or IT governance frameworks are advantageous.
Experience
• 7–10 years of experience in IT project management, enterprise system administration, or digital transformation.
• Proven track record in delivering complex technology projects, including enterprise application deployment, AI-driven automation, and data integration.
• Experience working with portfolio management or risk / performance analytics platforms and underlying datasets.
• Solid background in infrastructure support and operations management.
Technical Skills
• Deep understanding of enterprise data architecture, system integration, and Single Source of Truth (SSOT) and Multiple Versions of Truth (MVOT) concepts.
• Experience with Automation, AI/ML technologies applied to business automation.
• Proficiency in managing enterprise IT operations and system troubleshooting.
• Experience with cloud services, virtual machines, provisioning, patching, and endpoint device management.
• Strong knowledge of IT security, data privacy and audit protocols.
• Proficiency in R or Python, data management and governance.
Soft Skills
• Demonstrates strong problem-solving and analytical abilities with keen attention to detail.
• Clear and effective communicators with both technical and non-technical audiences.
