Job Purpose

This job will support the Communications function of NUS IT in its communications initiatives. The Communications team is one of several teams in the CITO’s Office, and the latter exists to provide strategic directions in IT governance, communications and administration.

 

The Communications function leads in “all things comms” for NUS IT, and is consistently innovating new dimensions that will position NUS as a leading global university through technology, recreate our workspace and engender staff and student engagement. A key part of this team’s mission is to create an extraordinary brand and demonstrate the impact of technology on education, in fulfilment of NUS IT’s “Borderless University, Powered by Infinite Technology” vision. 

 

The incumbent will take charge of augmenting the overall communications capabilities of the department, through delivering its comms programmes for staff, students and beyond NUS.  He/she will work closely with the Head (CITO’s Office) to design and implement a communication strategy that will position NUS and NUS IT as a trusted and forward-looking partner in technology, and an employer of choice. 

Duties and Responsibilities

•    Co-create communications strategy with Head (CITO’s Office) and other IT Heads
•    Synchronise communication and change management plans across IT teams to support our programmes and initiatives.
•    Lead in/refresh social media and outreach programmes
•    Design programmes to grow the brand for NUS IT through bITbIT (NUS IT’s mascot), internal comms levers and social media
•    Curate/write articles for publication in established broadsheet newspapers, technology societies and technology journals
•    Device strategies to raise our comms dexterity
•    Draft media releases and press statements for all external comms (e.g. press queries) with respect to NUS IT
•    Vet and oversee all internal and operational comms (e.g. outage messages) before their release to the community
•    Assist with planning and overall project management all departmental and external engagement activities 
•    Support CITO and IT Heads for their internal/external speaking engagements and mass communications

Qualifications and Attributes

•    Qualifications in Communications and New Media/equivalent 
•    At least 10 years of relevant experience in the IT or Higher Education industry, with a minimum of 5 years in a supervisory and/or academic role
•    Excellent facilitation and communication skills, both written and oral
•    Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
•    Good stakeholder management, interpersonal and influencing skills
•    Experienced in change management and project management
•    Empathetic, resourceful, strong drive for excellence and passionate about making a positive difference
