Job Summary
The Investment Data and Systems Manager play a critical role in maintaining and enhancing the technology infrastructure of a multi-asset class investment portfolio. Supporting the Chief Operating Officer of the NUS Investment Office, this role helps oversee data integrity and best of breed enterprise applications integration to provide accurate and timely information for decision making.
The role requires close collaboration with NUS Information Technology (IT) to drive alignment with university-wide initiatives, infrastructure strategies, cyber security mandates, and data governance frameworks.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Data & Technology Integration: Lead initiatives, from technical perspectives, to integrate platforms and enhance existing systems to improve operational efficiency and investment and non-investment decision-making capabilities. Collaborate with vendors and NUS IT teams to evaluate, implement, and optimize technology solutions that support investment and non-investment needs. Ensure all solutions comply with NUS enterprise architecture standards, cybersecurity policies, cloud infrastructure strategies, and data governance frameworks.
- Data Governance and Quality: Help establish and maintain robust data governance frameworks and processes to ensure accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of investment data.
- Vendor and Stakeholder Management: Manage relationships with technology vendors, including evaluation, configuration setting, data migration, service level monitoring, and escalation of technical issues.
- Process Improvement and Automation: Identify opportunities to streamline workflows and automate manual processes within the investment operations. Design and implement process improvements and automated solutions (Python, R, Microsoft Power Platform) to reduce operational risk.
- System Administrator: Serve as system administrator for the Investment Office’s core platforms, providing technical support, troubleshooting, and ensuring system stability and reliability. Manage the upgrade, deployment, and maintenance of Investment Office hardware assets—including on-premises virtual machines, laptops, desktops, printers, and wireless meeting room systems.
Qualifications
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in information technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field. Additional qualifications in Finance or quantitative fields would be a strong plus.
- Certifications in Cloud platforms, enterprise data platforms, AI, or IT governance frameworks would be a plus.
- 7–10 years of enterprise IT experience, relevant experience in the investment industry would be a strong plus.
- Proven track record in delivering technology projects, including application deployment, AI-driven automation, and data integration.
- Solid background in infrastructure support and operations management.
Technical Skills
- Broad understanding of investment finance topics, especially from the institutional side.
- Experience with enterprise data architecture / cloud-based data warehouses, API integration, data management, and system integration.
- Experience with AI implementation.
- Good knowledge of best practice in information security.
- Proficiency in R or Python, Microsoft Power Tools.
