The Health & Wellbeing team, under the Office of the President, spearheads the innovation, implementation, and evaluation of health & wellbeing programs for the NUS community, including support for employees facing acute mental stressors. We're looking for a dedicated, energetic, and passionate individual to join our team.
As a Care Manager, you will play a key role in supporting the mental wellbeing of 13,000 NUS employees. You will contribute to our in-house Respondent Care (supporting staff undergoing investigations due to allegations of misconduct) and Mental Health Return-to-Work services, providing timely case management and psychological support.
You will also provide counselling support to employees experiencing emotional distress, acute stressors, and mental health concerns, using evidence-based approaches within your training and competencies. Working closely with our in-house clinical team and other NUS stakeholders, you will coordinate care to address clients' needs holistically.

Job Description (Care Manager)
- Triage:
o Conduct mental health triage and psychosocial assessment to identify presenting concerns, levels of distress and risk.
o Apply clinical judgement to determine appropriate pathways of care and interventions.
- Case Management:
o Provide case management and psychological support for complex employee misconduct cases and those requiring mental health-related return-to-work support.
o Maintain appropriate clinical boundaries, confidentiality and professional independence.
o Establish professional rapport to provide emotional and basic counselling support, with timely case documentation.
o Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to facilitate coordinated care.
- Individual Counselling and Interventions:
o Provide individual counselling to employees experiencing emotional distress and mental health concerns.
o Deliver evidence-based interventions such as CBT and other appropriate approaches.
- Wellbeing Training and Workshops:
o Develop and deliver training and workshops that equip employees, managers, and leaders to engage in meaningful mental health conversations.
o Support an inclusive community through initiatives such as Peer Staff Supporter Programme.
- Clinical Excellence:
o Support clinical workflows and best practices to ensure quality case management.
o Maintain clinical documentation and comply with relevant professional, ethical and organisational requirements.
- Continuous Improvement & Development:
o Contribute to continuous process improvement, innovation and collaboration.
o Participate in supervision, case discussions and training to improve quality of care.
Qualifications
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology or related field, with a background or relevant training in counselling.
Experience:
- At least 2 years of relevant work experience in case management and supporting distressed individuals in the education, community or healthcare settings.
- Experience providing counselling or psychosocial support to individuals experiencing emotional distress or mental health concerns would be advantageous.
Skills & Attributes:
- Strong case management skills and foundational counselling skills, with the ability to provide psychological support within one's training and competencies.
- Able to work effectively in fast-paced and high-pressure situations while maintaining professional equanimity.
- Able to manage complexity and use initiative and situational judgment to solve problems effectively.
- Genuine interest in supporting distressed individuals, including senior-level executives, using a non-judgmental approach.

Additional Requirements:
