Job Description
“NUS Global” (or GRO) is the international engagement arm of the National University of Singapore (NUS). It has a dual mandate. Broadly, GRO oversees and administers mobility programmes that provide NUS students with learning experiences abroad. Such programmes enhance students’ cultural competencies and personal development to help prepare them for life and work across international cultural boundaries. GRO is also responsible for building collaborative relationships with overseas counterparts through bilateral engagements, alliances, networks, and other channels to create value for our stakeholders in line with NUS’ aspiration to be a global university.
To support our mandate, this team works closely with the Associate Vice President, GRO, to conduct research and analysis on various aspects of the global higher education landscape. In short, the team functions as an informational resource to GRO and NUS senior management.
Duties and Responsibilities
We are looking for a driven, resourceful, and analytically strong individual to join our team. This role offers the opportunity to contribute insights that will shape international mobility experiences and engagement strategies. In this role, you will:
- Conduct research and analysis on developments in global higher education, internationalisation trends, and contextual factors affecting university internationalisation strategies.
- Monitor developments in international engagement and mobility, identify emerging opportunities, and prepare briefs, reports, and presentation materials to support planning and decision-making.
- Source, analyse, and synthesise relevant data and statistics, highlighting key findings and addressing information gaps where relevant.
- Maintain and update databases, templates, and dashboards to support timely, accurate, accessible, and useful reporting, and assist with the development of new databases as needed.
- Support the assessment and review of programmes and policies related to international engagement and mobility.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as Economics, Political Science, International Relations, Global Studies, or a related discipline.
- Candidates with up to 6 years of relevant experience in international relations, partnership development and management, or in a related role within higher education or a similar international environment are encouraged to apply. Outstanding fresh graduates with relevant internship experience may also apply. Appointment will be commensurate with experience.
- Good interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively across cultures and with diverse stakeholders.
- A keen interest in global developments and international trends, particularly within the higher education landscape.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with good time management and organisational abilities.
- A proactive, resourceful, and adaptable team player who is comfortable working with ambiguity, exercises sound judgement, and manages evolving priorities effectively.
- Excellent command of the English language, with the ability to communicate clearly and effectively in writing and verbally.
