Job Description

 

Job Purpose :

This position reports to the Head, Student Leadership & Development (SLD) of the Office of Students Affairs (OSA) and interfaces with staff of the section. The candidate will play a vital role in supporting the overall well-being, personal development, and success of students within an educational institution. This role involves a combination of administrative, counseling, and interpersonal skills to create a positive and enriching student experience.

 

Duties & Responsibilities:

 

1. Support to Student Organisations:

a. Provide guidance and support to student organisations in the running of their activities.

b. Offer assistance in resolving conflicts, addressing concerns, and connecting students with appropriate resources.

 

2. Event Planning and Coordination:

a. Design, plan, and execute a variety of engaging student-oriented programs, workshops, and events that align with the University's goals and students' needs.

b. Collaborate with student organisations and other campus units to organise events such as orientations, Rag and Flag and leadership development workshops.

 

3. Student Engagement:

a. Encourage student participation in co-curricular activities that complement their academic journey.

b. Foster a sense of community and belonging among students through networking opportunities.

 

4. Student Leadership Development:

a. Develop and implement leadership development programs that empower students to take on leadership roles & responsibilities.

b. Provide training, workshops, and mentorship to help students build leadership skills and self-confidence.

 

5. Policy and Procedure Compliance :

a. Stay informed about institutional, procedures, and regulations affecting students affairs.

b. Ensure student compliance with relevant policies and assist student in understanding their responsibilities.

 

6. Teach Singapore Project :

a. Take a leading role in the planning and execution of the Teach Singapore project.

b. Forecast and manage budget needed for the Teach Singapore project.

 

Qualifications

  • A good degree
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and organisational skills.
  • Experience in event planning, programme development, or student affairs is beneficial.
  • Excellent team worker with ability to negotiate and compromise whilst taking into account the view of others.
  • Highly-motivated with strong problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to multi-task and deliver against a number of priorities.
  • Possess good people and event management skills, as well as effective writing acumen.
  • Proficient in networking with both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Flexibility to work evening and weekend as needed.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications (especially with Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint) and design software (e.g. Canva, Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator would be an added advantage).
