Job Description
The Senior Manager, reporting to the Chief Risk Officer (CRO), will lead and coordinate initiatives to enhance the university's enterprise risk management framework. This role involves identifying, assessing, auditing, and formulating measures to manage operational and strategic risks that may impact the university's strategic objectives and long-term goals. The incumbent will collaborate on projects across various units, faculties, schools, and administrative departments to ensure a holistic approach to risk management. This role requires strong cross-functional collaboration to foster a risk-aware culture and align risk management strategies with the university’s mission and objectives.
- Support to the Chief Risk Officer (CRO)
- Assist CRO in designing and implementing university-wide risk management initiatives.
- Coordinate cross-departmental and cross-units’ efforts to address interconnected risks.
- Prepare risk reports and management presentations for reporting, socialising and/or highlighting of risk matters.
- Act as a liaison between various departments and units to ensure alignment of risk management efforts.
- Operational and Strategic Risk Management
- Support the Operational Risk Management (ORM) and Enterprise Resilience – Research, Intelligence & Strategy (ERRIS) Unit Heads in identifying and managing operational risks and strategic risks for the university.
- Lead/co-lead for 1 or more operational risk types – end to end coverage of the risk
- Engage in planning and facilitating Risk Workshops for various NUS units to gain insights into their operations, activities, and services.
- Review and analyse risks and partner with Risk Units/Risk Coordinators to facilitate the risk mitigation.
- Design, develop and roll out tools and techniques, including awareness programs, to enhance 1st line risk management capability
- Formulate Risk Management Process Improvement solutions to streamline and optimise risk management processes (e.g. Risk Dashboard, Key Risk Indicators, Risk Incident Aggregation, GPT)
Qualifications
- Degree in Business Administration, Risk Management, Economics, Finance, or a related field
- Minimum 8 years of experience in risk management, audit, assurance/consulting services
- Excellent analytical, strategic thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across diverse teams and engage stakeholders at all levels.
- Proven track record of successfully implementing initiatives in a large organisation.
- Experience with end user technology tools (e.g. reporting, data analytics)
