Residential Life’s vision is to partner with the leadership of NUS hostels in creating a home-away-from-home residential experience where every student feels supported, engaged, and empowered to thrive, both within the residential community and beyond.


As a member of the OSA Residential Life team, the incumbent will play a key role in fostering a safe, enriching, and conducive living environment across NUS hostels. The role involves providing timely guidance to hostels, supporting the development and implementation of policies that enhance residents’ holistic experience, and promoting initiatives that empower students to grow, contribute meaningfully, and succeed during their time in residence.

 

Duties & Responsilities

1. Community Standards Enforcemen

  • Work withthe team to manage living and community standards in NUS hostels, including conducting fact-finding investigations, handling disciplinary cases, maintaining accurate records, and reviewing related policies and practices.
  • Coordinate with hostels on periodic statistical and management reporting for housing breaches.
  • Conduct regular reviews to identify emerging trends, recurring issues, and potential gaps related to disciplinary cases and housing regulation breaches within the hostels. Provide advisory to hostels on disciplinary matters including inter-hostel cases.

 

2. Residential Staff Management

  • Lead and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to implement a competency and training framework that promotes personal development, character building, and social bonding for hostels' residential staff.
  • Lead in the delivery of blended learning programs, symposiums, dialogues and other learning opportunities for hostels' residential staff, so that they can perform their roles effectively.
  • To work with hostels in their recruitment of residential staff and oversee the portfolio of Hostel Masters (HM), Resident Fellows (RF) and non-Resident Fellows (non-RF) in the Halls, Houses and Student Residences.
  • To plan and coordincate performance management and annual review for Resident Staff at the hostels

 

3. Others

  • Support the Section Head in the annual review of documents for on-campus housing - Housing Agreement, Demerit Points Structure, Guidelines with Respect to Hostels, and Hostel Rules and Regulations.
  • Drive RL's Disciplinary Data Inventory Management, and ensuring that disciplinary cases are updated in the respective platforms promptly.
  • Manage projects in collaboration with other university offices and hostels' leaders to enrich the residential experiences of NUS students.
  • Handling ad-hoc projects as and when assigned.

            

 

Qualifications

  • A good University degree with at least 5 years of relevant work experience
  • Proficient in software applications, including Microsoft Office and various social media platforms.
  • Meticulous, with proven record in project planning and organizational skills
  • Articulate in both written and verbal communication
  • Organised and able to work well under pressure and with tight deadlines
  • Demostrates excellent skills in teamwork and collaboration with stakeholders.
