Job Description
“NUS Global” (or GRO) is the international engagement arm of the National University of Singapore (NUS). It has a dual mandate. Broadly, GRO oversees and administers mobility programs that provide NUS students learning experiences abroad. Such programs enhance students’ cultural competencies and personal development to help prepare them for life and work across international and cultural boundaries. GRO is also responsible for building collaborative relationships with overseas counterparts through bilateral engagements, alliances, networks and other channels to create value for our stakeholders in line with NUS’ aspiration to be a global university.
To support our mandate, GRO is setting up a new Global Scan team. The team will work closely with the Associate Vice President, GRO to develop intelligence on various aspects of the global education landscape. In short, the team functions as an informational resource to GRO and NUS Senior Management.
The job description of the team includes the following:
- Conduct research on developments within the global higher education sector, and on wider contextual matters that can impact university internationalization.
- Analyze and synthesize data and other information for GRO’s briefs and reports.
- Assess informational gaps and provide solutions.
- Inform decision-making that can enhance mobility and engagement.
- Support the assessment of programs and policies
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as Management or Global Studies
• At least 10 years’ experience, preferably in consulting or in the higher education sector in the areas of educational advisory and/or international engagement
• Can integrate global perspectives and activities across a large educational institution, encompassing areas like academic programs, research, and student mobility
• Can distill pertinent trends to inform the development and implementation of a comprehensive internationalization plan aligned with NUS’ mission and goals
• Demonstrable research, analytical and communication skills
• Can balance independent work with collaborative efforts
