Job Purpose:

The Assistant Director (Fundraising) supports the Director of Development in leading and managing all fundraising initiatives at the NUS Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine (NUS Medicine). The incumbent plays a key role in driving philanthropic support at the major and principal gift levels, and in overseeing class giving, alumni engagement, and digital fundraising strategies.

 

Duties & Responsibilities:

Fundraising Strategy and Execution

  • Support in managing and executing the School’s fundraising strategy.
  • Identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward prospects for major and principal gifts to advance NUS Medicine’s priorities.
  • Manage a personal portfolio of donors and prospects, delivering on individual and team fundraising targets.
  • Partner with senior leadership, faculty, and volunteers to engage donors through tailored cultivation and solicitation plans.
  • Build and maintain a strong donor pipeline through prospect research and qualification.

 

Programme and Campaign Management

  • Lead class, alumni, and commencement giving initiatives in support of the School’s broader advancement goals.
  • Drive the conceptualisation and implementation of digital fundraising and donor communication campaigns.
  • Oversee production of fundraising collaterals, online content, and stewardship materials.
  • Evaluate fundraising programmes and recommend improvements based on performance metrics.

 

Stakeholder and Governance Management

  • Work with faculty, researchers, and domain experts to develop compelling fundraising proposals.
  • Ensure full compliance with NUS Advancement policies and procedures in all aspects of donor engagement, gift processing, and reporting.
  • Liaise with NUS Development Office and relevant administrative units to ensure consistency in donor communications, governance, and recognition.

 

Leadership 

  • Supervise, coach, and develop a small team of fundraisers and donor engagement staff.
  • Drive a performto the Director of Development, representing the unit at internal and external meetings, overseeing operations, and ensuring smooth decision-making continuity.
  • Support the preparation of management reports, budgets, and planning documents for the Development function.

Qualifications

  • A bachelor degree from a recognised institution.
  • At least 6 - 8 years of relevant experience in fundraising, donor relations, or advancement, preferably in the higher education, healthcare, or non-profit sectors.
  • Proven track record in securing major gifts (≥ S$100,000) and managing donor portfolios.
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills with the ability to motivate and guide a small team.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills with proficiency in developing persuasive proposals and cases for support.
  • Strategic, analytical, and results-driven, with demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Comfortable representing the University in donor and partner-facing settings.
  • Commitment to professional learning and continuous development.
