Job Description

The Global Heat Health Information Network (GHHIN) will be setting up its Southeast Asia Regional Heat Health Node at the Heat Resilience & Performance Centre (HRPC) to promote partnership and collaboration among key institutions driving heat health research in the region, harmonize and improve information and opportunity sharing and to assist one another in capability building to support extreme heat prevention and response. 

 

With technical knowledge in thermal physiology and programmatic experiences, the incumbent plays a critical role within the core management team in developing strategies and establishing rigorous, aggressive and detailed program goals needed to manage the portfolio of sophisticated R&D projects towards realization of research benefits across the key research thrusts of HRPC. In addition, the incumbent will helm the management of the GHHIN Regional Heat Health node.

 

Responsibilities include:


•    Helm the management of HRPC projects by providing operational oversight and agile programme management from inception to completion to ensure realization of the research benefits across the key thrusts of HRPC
•    Ensures that research outcomes are focused and aligned to HRPC’s goals
•    Plan and track of all outputs and outcomes, financials, risks, and the management of cross-research thrust interdependencies
•    Review HRPC’s research proposals and deliverables, and identify systematic bias (if any) so as to assist PIs in optimising research designs and outcomes
•    Drive the integration of research findings/products from HRPC and R&D partners to deliver complete solutions for challenges faced by customers
•    Identify emerging technologies and research areas with potential impact
•    Cultivate and maintain collaborative relationships and critical networks HRPC has both locally and internationally - including government agencies, industry partners and academic institutions
•    Develop a comprehensive strategy for the Regional Node’s operations to meet its objectives.
•    Strategize and direct initiatives and projects within the Regional Node ensuring efficient execution and coordination between teams and stakeholders
•    Develop strategic and efficient processes for financial management, including budget planning, resource allocation, expense tracking, procurement and financial performance across the Node
•    Establish a plan for monitoring of regional and international trends in climate change and heat health to identify growth opportunities and areas of focus for the Regional Node.

Qualifications

  • A Master’s degree qualification in a relevant scientific or engineering discipline from a reputed university
  • At least 5 years of leading and managing complex research and development programs in a research/academic organization
  • Strong technical background with deep understanding of emerging technologies and local R&D landscape
  • Excellent strategic planning and analytical skills
  • Proven ability to build and lead interdisciplinary teams
  • Exceptions communication and interpersonal skills
  • Prior experience in managing government and international level funded research is highly desirable
