The Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine at the National University of Singapore invites applications for a faculty position in Heat Resilience & Performance Centre (HRPC) and Human Potential Translational Research Programme (HP TRP). We seek outstanding candidates who will develop an independent and internationally competitive research programme that advances understanding of physiological processes in health and disease.

About the Role

The successful candidate will establish and lead research that complements existing strengths within the School of Medicine and contributes to interdisciplinary research, education, and translational impact.

Areas of interest may include, but are not limited to:

  • Environmental, exercise, occupational, or performance physiology
  • Data-driven, computational, or technology-enabled physiology research

Key Responsibilities

The appointee will be expected to:

  • Develop and sustain an independent research programme in physiology
  • Conduct high-quality basic, translational, clinical, or applied research
  • Publish in reputable peer-reviewed journals
  • Secure competitive research funding
  • Build collaborations within NUS and with external partners
  • Mentor students, research staff, and early-career researchers
  • Contribute to undergraduate and/or graduate education where appropriate
  • Support the School’s academic, research, and service activities
  • Translate research findings into scientific, clinical, public health, or policy-relevant outcomes where applicable

Qualifications

Applicants should have:

  • A PhD, MD/PhD, or equivalent degree in Physiology, Biomedical Science, Medicine, Life Sciences, or a related discipline
  • Relevant postdoctoral, clinical, or independent research experience
  • A strong publication record appropriate to career stage
  • Strong analytical, experimental, quantitative, computational, or translational research skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a multidisciplinary environment
  • Commitment to mentoring, academic development, and research excellence

Preferred Experience

Experience in one or more of the following areas would be advantageous:

  • Physiology research in health and disease
  • Translational or interdisciplinary biomedical research
  • Human participant, animal, cellular, molecular, or computational studies
  • Collaboration across clinical, engineering, public health, or life science disciplines
