Job Description

The National University of Singapore invites applications for Research Assistant, in the Bia-Echo Asia Centre for Reproductive Longevity & Equality (ACRLE). Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine. ACRLE collaborates with many experts and organizations to advance research in women’s reproductive health, leveraging on biomedical science, digital medicine, translational clinical work, public health and epidemiology, and health communication and public outreach. Appointments will be made on a 1-year contract basis in the first instance.

 

Purpose of the post

Candidates are expected to have good knowledge and skills in cell and molecular biology, preferably prior experience in working with mouse models and in reproduction research. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work closely with talented and motivated research fellows and interdisciplinary PIs to manage the technical aspects as well as administrative aspects in procurement, maintenance of lab inventory, mouse work and biological experiments.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

The Research Assistant will liaise with relevant stakeholders for participant recruitment and data collection and will be accountable to the Principal Investigator (PI). The Research Assistant will be able to:

  1. Support IRB application/administration & maintain Investigator Site File
  2. Manage research study databases, including data queries
  3. Ensure accuracy and completeness of data collection and data entry
  4. Analyze data sets and find meaningful correlations 
  5. Conduct literature review and write papers for journal publications
  6. Maintain regular communication with other team members in different study sites

Qualifications

The applicant should:

  • Degree in life sciences or biomedical disciplines.
  • At least 1 year of experience working in a research lab (including final year Hons. project/Undergraduate project).
  • Experience in cell/ tissue culture and molecular biology.
  • Experience in mouse handling, husbandry and animal experiments.
  • Possess basic skills in microscopy and image analysis (Image J and/or Matlab).
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Able to work independently, multi-task and work collaboratively in a cross-disciplinary research environment.

Remuneration will be commensurate with the candidate’s qualifications and experience.
