Research Assistant (Dept of Medicine)

Job Description

The National University of Singapore invites applications for the position of research assistant in the Prof. Lim Seng Gee’s lab, Department of Medicine, Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine. Prof. Lim’s lab develops the research work of new treatments for chronic hepatitis B and C, with a particular focus on translational research in viral hepatitis, molecular biology, and immunology of hepatitis. Appointments will be made on a 12-month contract basis with the possibility of extension.

Main duties and responsibilities

The Research Assistant will be involved in wet lab experiments that require cell culture, genetic and cell engineering, flow cytometry, and mouse models. Training will be provided to those unfamiliar with the techniques needed. The Research Assistant will also do general laboratory maintenance, for example preventive maintenance of equipment, buffer preparation, ordering and ensuring consumables are well stocked.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree in biomedical Technology or related disciplines
• Good aseptic technique, experience in tissue culture and the handling of cell function assay will be an added advantage.
• Experience in maintaining quality records will be an added advantage
• Strong sense of responsibility and a good team player
• Able to work independently after training
• Keen interest to developing a career in the laboratory/ biotechnology field
• Effective communicator, both verbally and in writing in English

Remuneration will be commensurate with the candidate’s qualifications and experience.
