Laboratory Duties

  • Design, plan, and execute experiments aligned with the specific aims of ongoing research projects and the overall goals of the laboratory.
  • Perform bacterial expression of recombinant proteins, including their purification and biochemical characterization.
  • Apply a variety of protein purification techniques (e.g., affinity, ion exchange, size-exclusion chromatography etc).
  • Conduct standard molecular biology techniques such as cloning, PCR, SDS-PAGE, and Western blotting.
  • Maintain laboratory operations, including equipment maintenance, ordering supplies, and ensuring compliance with lab safety regulations.
  • Contribute to general lab maintenance and foster a collaborative, team-oriented environment.
  • Learn and adapt to new protocols and techniques quickly and effectively.

Administrative Duties

  • Assist with preparation and submission of grant applications, safety protocols, reports, and amendments.
  • Ensure timely and accurate submission of documentation to relevant institutional and governmental bodies.
  • Liaise with internal departments and external collaborators or regulatory agencies as required.
  • Attend and contribute to lab and project meetings.
  • Support the Principal Investigator (PI) and Senior Manager with ad-hoc administrative tasks.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences, Biological Sciences, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years' hands-on laboratory experience, specifically in recombinant protein expression and purification (mandatory).
  • Proficient in:
    • Protein construct design
    • Molecular cloning and PCR
    • Protein purification techniques (e.g., Ni-NTA, ion exchange, SEC)
    • SDS-PAGE and Western blotting
  • Experience in GMP-compliant environments is a plus.
  • Strong ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced research setting.
  • Excellent organizational and troubleshooting skills; detail-oriented with a proactive approach.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills in English.
