Job Description

The National University of Singapore invites applications for Research Assistant in the Human Potential Translational Research Programme (HPTRP), Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine.  The HPTRP aims to bring together researchers from a wide range of disciplines with an interest to maximise human potential. In HPTRP, focusing only on human studies, we aim to adopt a holistic perspective that considers human potential as an integrative measure of health, productivity, performance, human capital and overall well-being over the lifespan, in our environment. Appointments will be made on one-year contract, with the possibility of one-year extension.

 

Purpose of the post

The Research Assistant will work closely with the IHDP’s Biobank Team. The RA’s principal role will be to work in general practices of biosample transporting, processing, storage, data entry and other tasks as assigned by Reporting Officer,

Main Duties and Responsibilities

The Research Assistant/Research Associate will:

 

  1. Process a wide range of biosamples that includes but not limited to blood and stool.
  2. Provide and maintain accurate laboratory record and data
  3. Adhere to all laboratory safety and procedures in accordance with the laboratory SOPs.
  4. Maintain the highest standard of professional conduct and record keeping in accordance with SOPs 
  5. Perform laboratory housekeeping as assigned
  6. Must be work at 3 sites as rostered
  7. Must be able to work on weekends
  8. Perform other duties as assigned by Reporting Officer

Qualifications

The applicant should:

  1. have a bachelor’s degree in biomedical science, Life science or related discipline.
  2. Must have laboratory experience and competent in pipetting
  3. Able to work in a fast-paced environment
  4. Able to work independently and in a collaborative manner with interdisciplinary team
  5. Effective verbal and written communication skills
  6. Strong desire to learn continuously

Remuneration will be commensurate with the candidate's qualifications and experience.
