The National University of Singapore (NUS) invites applications for a Research Associate in the Department of Medicine, Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine. The Department of Medicine at NUS is a very large research-intensive department and is dedicated to the advancement of human healthcare in Singapore first, but also beyond. More information on the department is available at https://medicine.nus.edu.sg/medi/ .  This Appointment will be made on a 1 year rolling contract basis in the first instance, with the possibility of extension.

 

Purpose of the post

The Research Associate (RA) will be responsible to, and work closely with the Principal Investigator (Assoc. Professor Reshma Merchant) to engage in research on frailty, sarcopenia, falls, and healthy aging. The RA will assist in leading and implementing research projects relating to healthy aging, including data entry and analysis.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

The Research Associate will be able to:

  1. Oversee the general management of the project;
  2. Provide administrative and secretarial support to the project, such as organizing regular meetings to maintain regular communication with other members of the research team and collaborate with the study sites;
  3. Undertake the day to day running of the project at the study site, e.g. Collaborate with team members at the study sites, blood taking, recruitment, data collection at hospitals/participants’ homes;
  4. Conduct literature searches, using SPSS to enter data, analyse data and maintain trial database, as well as assist in preparing both progress and final reports of the project;
  5. Maintain the highest standard of professional conduct and record keeping in accordance with policies and procedures;
  6. Assist with any other duties of a similar nature that are delegated by the PI.

Qualifications

The applicant should have:

  1. At least a master’s degree in geriatrics or science-related field from an accredited institution;
  2. experience in quantitative and qualitative research methodologies;
  3. excellent written and verbal communication skills;
  4. prior experience in grant writing (securing external funding is an advantage);
  5. prior phlebotomy experience preferred

 

Remuneration will be commensurate with the candidate’s qualifications and experience.
