Job Description

The Health District is a multi-stakeholder and multi-disciplinary project, which is primarily led by the National University of Singapore (NUS), National University Health System (NUHS) and Housing and Development Board (HDB), with various collaborators across the healthcare, governmental, academic, business and civic society sectors. The goals of the Health District are to improve healthy longevity, enable purposeful longevity, promote intergenerational bonding, and support a community where people of all ages are able to remain if they choose to do so. The project takes on an open innovation, whole-of-society approach, which emphasises on co-developing solutions to tackle complex issues in the community in Singapore, with hope of deriving insights which can also benefit the wider international communities.

 

The Evaluation Workstream has been set up to assess and evaluate the success of Health District holistically, determining whether it can be used as a model for other districts. The Workstream intends to evaluate and monitor the interventions to be implemented in the Health District, using 2 main metrics: effectiveness at impacting direct or leading indicators of healthy aging, and sustainability of upscale implementation. The Workstream is recruiting a team of researchers to support the evaluation efforts.

Job Responsibilities

You will be responsible for the following:

 

  • Project management
  • Patient recruitment
  • Data collection, cleaning, and processing, database management
  • Statistical analysis
  • Support review and coding of medical records
  • Contribute towards research protocol development
  • Literature reviews, including systematic reviews
  • Set up and manage research meetings
  • Preparation of new grant proposals
  • Contribute to the development of scientific papers and the dissemination of the study findings

Qualifications

  • Hold a Master’s degree in healthcare, statistics, or an equivalent discipline with a strong statistical component. Candidates with Bachelor’s degree and sufficient work experience will be considered.
  • Be proficient in the use of statistical analysis software (e.g. Stata, SPSS, or R)
  • Be proficient in use of Microsoft Office
  • Be fluent in written and spoken English
  • Experience querying large databases and have excellent knowledge of quantitative methods applied in health and/or social sciences
  • Experience working in a healthcare setting or working with healthcare data is preferred
  • Experience of manuscript writing, submission of ethics review applications, and/or development of grant applications is preferred
  • Ability to speak a second local major language (e.g. Mandarin, Malay, Tamil, etc.) is preferred as our main research target group is mainly older populations in Singapore who generally speak these languages. The candidate may need to communicate/interview with patient /research participant.
