Job Description

The National University of Singapore, Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, NUS Academy for Healthy Longevity seeks an experienced and dynamic individual to be a (Senior) Research Fellow within Prof. Maier's research group. This position will lead the research regarding NAD+ precursors and support team that conducts clinical trials and manages day-to-day operations.

Key Responsibilities

Clinical Trial Innovation and Excellence

  • Development of innovative clinical trial protocols to investigate the effects of NAD+ precursors and other geroprotectors on aging and age-related diseases
  • Evaluation and validation of new assessment methods and technologies for measuring NAD+ levels and their physiological effects before implementation in clinical studies
  • Introduction and improvement of biological, clinical, and digital biomarkers of aging into clinical trial protocols with a specific focus on markers of NAD+ metabolism and mitochondrial function.
  • Lead the innovation of NAD+ precursors and generate the evidence for their potential use in precision geromedicine
  • Contribute to the establishment of global standards for gerotherapeutic trials and international clinical trial networks

 

Clinical Trial Operations

  • Oversee the execution of clinical trials, ensuring adherence to protocols, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and good clinical practice (GCP)
  • Supervise the recruitment, scheduling, and management of research participants for NAD+ intervention studies
  • Supervise the collection and maintenance of clinical trial documentation, including data records, case report forms, and equipment maintenance logs
  • Ensure compliance with clinical inventory management procedures

 

Team Leadership and Management

  • Provide effective leadership and guidance to the research team, fostering a collaborative and high-performing work environment
  • Oversee the allocation and management of workloads, ensuring efficient utilisation of resources.
  • Identify training needs and facilitate the professional development of team members
  • Build and nurture a positive team culture that promotes excellence, innovation, and continuous improvement

 

Funding and Resource Acquisition

  • Support fund raising efforts for NAD+ focused clinical trials through grant applications, industry collaborations, and other funding sources, such as donor campaigns
  • Oversee the preparation of high-quality grant proposals and funding applications, ensuring alignment with funder requirements and research objectives

Qualifications

  • PhD in Medicine, Pharmacology, Biochemistry, Life Sciences, or a related field
  • A strong interest in aging biology and demonstrated experience in designing and conducting interventional studies in humans, preferably with a focus on metabolic health or geroprotectors
  • Deep understanding of NAD+ biochemistry, metabolism, and its role in cellular processes, aging, and disease
  • Knowledge of pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic (PK/PD) principles and biomarker development related to NAD+ metabolism
  • Familiarity with clinical research protocols, standard operating procedures, and good clinical practice
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities, with the ability to collaborate effectively with participants, staff, and external stakeholders
  • Strong organisational and problem-solving skills, with meticulous attention to detail
  • Team management skills and experience in supervisory roles
