The National University of Singapore invites applications for Research Fellow in the Infectious Diseases Translational Research Program (IDTRP), Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine.

 

The Infectious Diseases Translational Research Program (IDTRP) is dedicated to advancing research that transforms fundamental discoveries into real-world solutions. With a vision of creating a world where affordable and effective prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of infectious diseases improve health outcomes across Asia, IDTRP integrates expertise in microbiology, immunology, clinical research, and public health to address global challenges.

 

 Appointments will be made on a 1-Year contract basis, with the possibility of extension.

 

Purpose of the post

This position is for a full-time Research Fellow in the Immunometabolism Lab led by Assistant Professor Cheryl Lee in the Infectious Disease Translational Research Programme in NUS Yong Yoo Lin School of Medicine. Our team is interested in understanding the metabolic interactions of the immune system and pathogens, and how they contribute to the pathogenesis of infectious diseases.

The Immunometabolism Lab is looking for a Research Fellow to identify novel metabolic pathways regulating immune cells activation during infection. The RF will manage, plan and execute the projects. The candidate should be motivated, detail-oriented and a team player.

Main duties and responsibilities

  1. Independently carry out the design and execution of experimental research required by the research component of the project.
  2. Independently analyse complex data sets.
  3. Write and review research papers, present research outcomes, conceptualise new ideas and develop plans for independent research, which could have a considerable influence and impact on the relevant field attracting research funding.
  4. Provide support for external grant/protocol development, study design and management of research activities.
  5. Assist in writing and monitoring animal protocols and IRB applications.
  6. Provide guidance and mentorship to undergraduate / medical students and research assistants.
  7. Perform other related duties incidental to the work described therein.

Qualifications

  • PhD in Biology, Immunology, or other related fields.
  • Prior experience in molecular and cellular biology techniques, animal model work, and/or human immunology.
  • Demonstrated capability of research independence.
  • Have in-depth knowledge, skills and expertise with potential to achieve research excellence.
  • Possess strong writing and critical thinking skills, as well as good communication and presentation skills.
  • A team player who is able to prioritise, multi-task and work collaboratively in a diverse workforce
