Job Description

We are looking for outstanding academics with an international reputation as leaders in their fields in both research and education to take on a professorship position. We are particularly keen to develop our strengths in research and teaching in medical ethics, with possible specialisms in reproductive ethics, genethics, neuroethics, AI ethics, or clinical and healthcare ethics (including work on health systems and public health). 

Main duties and responsibilities

  • Lead research publications involving staff
  • Contribute to papers of relevant interest by staff
  • Contribute to research grants involving the Centre
  • Give public or professional lectures
  • Support doctoral students and mentor junior staff
  • Teach a requisite number of graduate classes
  • Assist with the development of course materials
  • Organise joint conference/workshop on space ethics and/or food ethics, including genetically modified crops

Qualifications

  • A PhD in a field relevant to bioethics, eg philosophy, bioethics, sociology, anthropology, etc
  • Strong track record (relative to career opportunity) of good quality research and publication in bioethics and/or fields relevant to this position.
  • Excellent written and spoken English.
  • Strong organisation and management skills.
  • Demonstrated aptitude for collaborative as well as independent working.
