Job Description

The National University of Singapore invites applications for Visiting Wong Hock Boon Professor & as a Visiting Expert for Minimally invasive and Robotic Paediatric Surgery in the Department of Paediatrics under Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine.  The department overseas paediatric surgery services in NUH. NUH Paediatric Surgery's mission is to provide and promote quality surgical care for children. We manage surgical problems in newborns, infants, toddlers, children, and teenagers, up to the age of 18 years old. Our emphasis is on performing surgeries utilizing minimally invasive technologies such as laparoscopy; which is an established standard of care for it’s advantages such as lesser pain and faster recovery. We have observed a global shift from conventional laparoscopic to robot-assisted laparoscopic surgery for children because the robot overcomes some of the drawbacks of conventional laparoscopic surgery (improved 3D depth visibility, greater range of motion, motion scaling). Hence, we would like to embark on performing Robotic operations on children within NUH. 
The candidate will be involved in 
(1)    Identify key areas of research in the field of Minimally Invasive and Robotic Paediatric Urology relevant to local needs.
(2)    Wong Hock Boon Masterclass as a speaker 
(3)    NUH Paediatric CME Teaching
(4)    NUH Grand Round 
(5)    Case Discussions in Paediatric Urology in the department of paediatric surgery in NUH and the Chapter of Paediatric Surgeons, Academy of Medicine, Singapore.
(6)    Performing paediatric urology operations in NUH using the in-house Da Vinci Robot.
(7)    Proctoring of senior consultant paediatric surgeons in the department of paediatric surgery in NUH by assisting them during paediatric urology operations using the in-house Da Vinci Robot.

Qualifications

The candidate should possess appropriate qualifications towards performing paediatric urology operations in NUH.

The candidate’s qualifications should be recognized by and registrable for temporary registration with the Singapore Medical Council.

Examples of such qualifications may include MBBS, FRCS(Urology), MD (USA), FEBU and FEAPU.
