Programmer

 

YST Conservatory’s Programming & Productions team organizes over 200 concerts and events annually. The programmes range from concerts, masterclasses, festivals, seminars, symposiums, and competitions relevant for an international-level music conservatory.

 

As a YST Programmer, you will be expected to develop competencies in managing the administrative, operational, creative and financial aspects of conservatory focused programming & production, as well as contribute to a team whose responsibilities include production budget management, and the fostering of international partnerships within the conservatory landscape.

 

You will have a key role to play to ensure that the planning and execution of each programme will be of the highest artistic quality appropriate for a leading tertiary arts institution.

 

Key Responsibilities
•    Administer, plan, develop and implement YST programming & production events
•    Plan and manage budgets, timelines and event-related processes; as well as negotiate and manage contracts within the programming & production context
•    Support student, faculty and guest performers in the development, production and presentation of their work
•    Liaise with performers, student assistants and other stakeholders on matters related to programming & production
•    Work on marketing and publicity to maximize reach for events
•    Work with technical production and stage management to ensure that conservatory events take place safely and successfully
•    Assess, review and continually improve the quality of YST’s programmes & productions
•    Evolve knowledge on musical artists, and professional performing arts networks, particularly in an international conservatory context, while keeping abreast of cultural trends in Singapore, ASEAN and beyond
•    Handle external hire enquiries

 

 

Qualifications

 

We are looking for individuals for the positions of Programmers who have a keen sense of aesthetics, knowledge, and appreciation in one or more artistic disciplines relevant to the performing arts. Our current vacancies will require the following:
•    Good understanding of classical music or other relevant musical genres; 
•    Teamwork and communication skills, as well as strong multi-tasking abilities; 
•    Relevant working experience in producing, arts programming or in arts management;
•    Knowledge in live sound and video production;
•    At least 2-3 years’ working experience in or related to the arts or event management;
•    Good organisational abilities and capacity; 
•    Excellent interpersonal skills;
•    Able to actively work within a dynamic team; 
•    Entertaining and attendance at conservatory events, occasionally dealing with irregular working hours for conservatory concerts and events; and
•    Knowledge of budgeting and accounting, as well as proficiency in digital tools (such as text and data processing softwares) and knowledge of the arts industry in general are assets.
