The Conservatory is seeking a full-time Technical & Operations Manager. The Technical & Operations Manager plans, manages, co-ordinates, and see to operations of all technical aspects of all performance, rehearsal, and teaching venues in the Conservatory building for all internal and external events. The role communicates across directors, producers, performers, and other technical personnel (light, sound, stage, multimedia) and technical assistants to ensure artistic intents can be met and successful delivery of each production.

Responsibilities include :

  • Lead/provide technical support for teaching and performances.
  • Lead/co-ordinate technical production requirements including budgeting, resources and manpower planning
  • Setup and operate AV, stage and lighting equipment and systems
  • Manage crew rostering, training, and performance
  • Ensure users comply with all technical, operational and safety regulations.
  • Lead and offer strategic proposals for performance venue renewals and equipment procurement/maintenance/updates.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Theatre Production / Management or equivalent. Classical music background would be an advantage.
  • Excellent collaboration, communication, multitasking and organizational skills, resourceful, team player, ability to work under pressure and provide excellent customer service and respect for
  • stakeholders in challenging situations.
  • Knowledge of stage & music productions, stage equipment, staging techniques, manual and powered rigging systems, lighting control systems, stage lighting instruments, audio and video
  • systems, and Concert Hall architecture and etiquette. Knowledge of current technological developments/trends.
  • Ability to interpret stage designs, lighting designs, plans, technical requirements and specifications, manage technical operations and to operate lighting, AV and stage equipment.
  • Knowledge and understanding of trade standards for quality and workmanship and the requirements of legislation and standards pertinent to workplace, building and equipment safety.
  • Ability to monitor and maintain quality control standards and safety procedures.
