Research Assistants (Robotic Scanning & Multi-Sensor Fusion)

Job Description

The Building Informatics and Automation Lab at the National University of Singapore (NUS) is currently seeking candidates for Research Assistant (RA) positions. We’re dedicated to research and develop digital methods based on robotics, advanced 3D modelling, and computational optimisation for the built environment. Our current effort involves integrating robotic scanning and scan-to-BIM techniques for automated data capture and 3D digital modelling of buildings and infrastructures, along with computational optimisation for generative (re)design to refine decision-making in new construction. Our research interests include, but not limited to:

•      Building/construction informatics and automation
•      Robotic Scanning
•      Scan-to-BIM
•      Computational Optimisation

The appointed candidates will support the planning and execution of research projects alongside postdoc associate, PhD students, and RAs within the research group and the Centre for 5G Digital Building Technology. This includes conducting research, analysing results, preparing reports and papers.

Job Requirements

•    A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree with relevant background and knowledge in civil engineering, mechanical engineering, computer engineering, or a related discipline. Candidates should demonstrate knowledge and expertise in the aforementioned areas, with a proven track record of peer-reviewed publications.
•    Proficiency with LiDAR or computer vision, including open-source frameworks and algorithms for 3D scene reconstruction.
•    Experience in Python programming (At least one year of experience in Python programming would be preferred) and familiarity with the LINUX platform.
•    Experience in machine learning, deep learning, and data analytics will be beneficial.
•    Proficiency in written and spoken English is required.
