Job Description

The Research Program Officer plays a pivotal role in supporting the efficient administration of research grants, managing programmatic outreach initiatives, and facilitating the smooth operation of research graduate programs. This position involves close collaboration with finance, HR, and various departments within the organization, as well as external partners and stakeholders. The Research Program Officer ensures compliance with grant requirements, oversees programmatic activities, and contributes to the dissemination of research findings and program achievements.

Job Duties

Grant Finance & HR Administration:

  • Assist in the post-research grant awards process, including tasks in the grant iRIMS system.
  • Track research grant budgets, manage virements, procurement, and claims.
  • Liaise with the Finance Team for effective financial management of program affairs.
  • Support HR matters, including liaison with NUS HR, payroll funds check, and induction of new recruits.
  • Maintain records of program research staff list and profiles on websites.

 

Programmatic Outreach:

  • Manage research program membership and generate publication bibliometrics for reporting purposes.
  • Collaborate on program initiatives and partnerships with various NUS departments/schools.
  • Organize virtual and face-to-face research events, fundraising activities, workshops, seminars, and symposiums.
  • Prepare and update events on newsletters and websites, manage media relations, and disseminate research news.

 

Research Graduate Programme:

  • Support graduate and fellowship program matters, acting as a liaison with NUS Medicine and the Division of Graduate School.

 

Other Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Maintain organized documentation and correspondence, including letters of award, approvals, amendments, etc.
  • Manage computerized grant/financial data and progress reports.
  • Perform any other duties assigned by senior management

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree, preferably in Life Sciences or a related field of study.
  • 3 to 4 years of experience in a similar position.
  • Experience in research administrative management involving multiple faculties, including HR, Grants budget, Outreach, and Finance.
  • Proven track record of coordinating and tracking multiple projects.
  • Background in life sciences preferred.
  • Familiarity with SAP/iRIMS system is advantageous.
  • Strong multitasking abilities and capability to work independently while also being an effective team player.
  • Proactive, committed, creative, meticulous, and results-oriented approach to work.
  • Excellent writing and reporting skills.
  • Exceptional communication and presentation abilities.
  • Good interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with colleagues and external stakeholders.
