Job Description

This position will provide IT infrastructure and data management support to research groups within the school and for external collaborations.

 

Duties & Responsibilities
• Provide infrastructure (hardware/software), end user and data management support to research groups within the school and for external collaborations.
• Configuration of environments and release of applications to Windows/IIS/MSSQL/LAMP environments.
• Support of research computing environments including provisioning and import/export of data.
• Perform Database Administration tasks.
• Troubleshooting of issues reported in deployed applications and other research environments with developers.
• Maintaining data standards, including adherence to internal processes, the Personal Data Protection Act, Human Biomedical Research Act and other legislation as required.
• Participate in Disaster Recovery team in the event of serious IT issue (some work beyond office hours may be required if activated).
• Any other projects based on current requirements.

Qualifications

• Recognised degree/diploma in computing related disciplines, from recognised institutions.
• Required knowledge: SQL query language, Windows Server & Microsoft SQL Server, IIS 10.
• Experience with the following technologies would be beneficial: Active Directory, Linux (Server), EMC OneFS 9+, Terminal Services/Remote Desktop Services and basic web programming for application hosting troubleshooting (e.g. C#, ASP.net, PHP), Network administration, Cisco IOS.
• Good team player, able to work with people of all technical levels and backgrounds (e.g. IT Professionals, Research Staff, Students).
• Self-motivated with the ability to prioritize tasks and work independently.
• Strong analytical skills and meticulous over details.
• Excellent written and verbal communications skills.
