Job Description

This job aims to address some critical issues about metasurface-based high-dimensional photodetectors. The main targets are threefold:

1. Understand in depth the optimization algorithms in the design of metasurfaces and 2D materials and various light properties. Investigate how algorithms impact the design process of optoelectronic devices and enhance the manipulation and detection of light's fundamental characteristics such as polarization, wavelength, and orbital angular momentum.

2. Study the physical fundamentals that underpin the design of optoelectronic devices: Deeply explore how symmetry properties, band theory, eigenmode analysis, and coupling theories can inform and enhance optimization algorithms. This study should focus on applying these physical principles to drive the design of functional optoelectronic devices, aiming to optimize key performance metrics such as increased responsivity, enhanced functionalities, and faster response speeds in photodetectors and other related devices.

3. Find practical schemes to demonstrate the optimized optoelectronic devices in real-world applications. Fabricate and evaluate the performance of design such as on-chip multi-dimensional light properties photodetection. At last, one or two prototypical designs should be experimentally demonstrated.

Considering the above research targets, the candidate should possess in-depth physical insights and interdisciplinary knowledge of electromagnetics, metasurface, 2d material, computer-aided engineering, etc. Practical experience in the design, optimization, fabrication, measurement and characterization of optoelectronic systems is preferred.

Qualifications

1. PhD Degree in Physics or Photonics, with a strong background in both algorithm and design, fabrication and measurement of nanostructure and/or 2D materials.

2.  Working experience in the field of optimization, design, fabrication and measurement of metasurface-based optoelectronic devices.

3. Mathematics and specific knowledge required in electromagnetics, mode coupling theory, band theory, symmetry analysis, and computer-aided engineering.

4. Technical proficiency: 1) theoretical and numerical modeling of optical -electronic and other physical systems with appropriate software; 2) global optimization algorithms and their application to optical system design. 3) hands-on experience with metasurface and 2d material fabrication, measurements and characterization, and optical path setup.

5. Candidate should have strong publication records in reputed International Journals in the field of optoelectronic devices and photonics.

6. Open to Fixed Term Contract.
