Research Assistant/Associate in Quantitative and Mixed Methods Evaluation

 

 

The Health Intervention and Policy Evaluation Research Centre (HIPER) (https://hiper.nus.edu.sg/) at the Saw Swee Hock School of Public Health (SSHSPH), NUS, is seeking to hire an individual with relevant experience to support work in the area of evaluations and community health research.

 

 

The candidate will play a critical role in the development of the Centre’s growing research agenda to support health policy and services research in Singapore and the region, gaining the opportunity to work with leading experts and policy makers in the field. The successful candidate will be expected to perform research administration, conduct formative and evaluation-driven research and disseminate findings.

 

 

The role will require an ambitious self-starter who can engage with incoming briefs and help shape and construct deliverables in a timely manner. As a researcher of the Centre, you will be presented with various opportunities to further develop your skills to ensure personal growth in your career. The role benefits from exposure to many areas of public health, but in particular community-based participatory research. This will engage the post-holder in building professional networks across multiple agencies in Singapore.

 

 

The post-holder will join an active and supportive team that enjoys working together, problem solving as a team and working on theory-driven yet applied, practical outputs that will influence population health outcomes.

 

 

Requirements:
Applicants are expected to have at least a bachelor’s degree from an established University, preferably in public health or social sciences with a proficient understanding of quantitative and mixed evaluation methods.

 

 

The grade of appointment will be accorded based on qualifications and work experience.

 

 

Applicants will require the following essential skills:
• Experience of measuring changes in intervention outcomes and evaluation design
• Statistical training and proficiency in R or STATA
• Ability to coordinate and administrate complex data collection protocols
• Ability to engage with multiple stakeholders and strong interpersonal skills
• Good team-player, independent, enjoys working across disciplines and sectors
• Possesses excellent written and verbal communication skills, well-organised and meticulous
• Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Applications as well as data management and adept at learning new software packages

 

 

In addition, the following skills and experience are desirable:
• Some experience of conducting qualitative research, knowledge or interest in methods related to mixing qualitative and quantitative data
• Experience of working with community-based organisations
• Experience of working across different age groups, including youth, working adults, and seniors
• Experience in working with survey companies and data collection teams to coordinate longitudinal data collection

 

 

We are seeking one candidate in the current call who will report directly to Dr. Hildon and be embedded in the wider team.
