About the role:

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled researcher to join our team, focused on the detection of misinformation and disinformation across various multimodal data sources. The successful candidate will work on developing and implementing advanced techniques for analyzing and identifying false or misleading content within text, images, audio, and video.

 

 

You will be expected to:

  • Collaborate with a diverse team of computer scientists and social scientists to contribute to an interdisciplinary research programme.
  • Conduct rigorous research and develop innovative solutions to complex problems.
  • Publish and present research findings in academic journals and conferences.
  • Develop and present demos for your research.
  • Assist in the development and testing of algorithms or behavioral models.
  • Participate in regular team meetings and contribute to collaborative efforts.

 


Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop algorithms and models for detecting misinformation and disinformation across multiple data modalities (text, images, audio, and video).
  • Conduct research on state-of-the-art methods for multimodal data processing and analyses.
  • Analyze large datasets to identify patterns and trends in misinformation and disinformation.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of researchers, data scientists, and engineers.
  • Publish research findings in top-tier conferences and journals.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in multimodal data analysis and misinformation detection.

 

Qualifications

  • A PhD degree in Computer Science/Computer Engineering
  • Possess strong background in Mathematics, Algorithms and Social Media Analytics
  • Strong experience in machine learning, deep learning, and natural language processing.
  • Excellent programming skills in Python, TensorFlow, PyTorch, or similar frameworks.
  • Proficiency in handling multimodal data, including text, images, audio, and video.
  • Familiarity with misinformation and disinformation detection techniques.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills in English
  • Prior publications in major computer vision (CVPR/ICCV/ECCV) or machine learning (NeurIPS, ICML/ICLR) conferences is a plus
  • The successful incumbent will be offered a one year contract 


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior experience in interdisciplinary research.
  • Interest in the impact of digital technologies on society.
  • Familiarity with social media platforms and their data structures.
  • Familiarity with issues related to misinformation, disinformation, and mal-information.
