Job Description

This project aims to establish a circa 2020 baseline rice reference map and calibrate it using high-resolution satellite imagery or commercial satellite imagery, producing a detailed accuracy assessment report of the rice paddy map over targeted regions.

 

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Visual interpretation of high-resolution satellite imageries and create training samples for rice paddies
  • Compile and evaluate historical reference maps and datasets
  • Create rice paddy maps over targeted regions and write summary report

Qualifications

Required Skills:

  • A MS or BS in environmental sciences, geography, civil engineering, earth system sciences, statistics, or a related field.
  • Experience with programming languages (R, Python, MATLAB or similar)
  • Experience with GIS software (e.g., ArcGIS, ENVI, QGIS)
  • Good understanding in statistics/data science
  • Highly organized and proactive, and with the ability to work independently

 

Desired Skills:

  • Experience with Google Earth Engine
  • Experience with digital image processing
  • Experience with research and data management

Terms of Appointment:

  1. The appointment will be tenable for a maximum period of 18 months.
